Fizards offers an interesting concept in artificial attractants. This is a biodegradable substance that is completely moldable, like putty and is infused with shad oil as a slow releasing attractant. Fizards is marketed as a great attractant for pan fish, bass, walleye and saltwater species. The attractant comes in several colors and for our testing, we used pink and blue.
The colder the temperature, the harder the attractant which sometimes makes it a little challenging at first to chunk out the container. However, holding it in our hands with a few warm breaths, we were able to soften the substance up and then easily work with it.
Tearing a small piece from the casing, the attractant molded easily around our treble hooks. We were able to test this product several times, first on a spinner and then a few cranks. We did notice an increase in activity while having the attractant on our lures. The activity was more noticeable and we were able to squash the idea that it may have just been the lures being used, when we balled Fizards solely on a weighted hook. Using the attractant alone we pulled quite a few pan fish and a nice size lake trout. Fizards offers a good alternative to traditional oils and liquid attractants while also providing a visual stimulator. Sometimes it was hit or miss, but welcome to the world of fishing, and as an attractant we were very pleased with the results. Give Fizards a try and let us know what you think.
Fizards retails for about $10.00 ( www.fizards.com).
