In the 20 years that I’ve been a tournament fisherman, I had the pleasure of putting a lot of very great baits on my line. MESU Bait is a Kansas-based lure manufacturer that i can get behind. Out of their line-up, two lures stand out and are the best I have tied on – the BuzzeRR and the Swim Raptor Jig. BuzzeRR The BuzzeRR is a fantastic buzz bait that has several unique qualities that I think makes it the best buzz bait on the market. This bait features a cut in the blade which leaves a great bubble trail, and also allows the blades to turn very freely. I also like the skirt which has an inner core tail which can be trimmed, tinned or removed. This really helped me adjust to the conditions of the day. The best feature of the BuzzeRR is that the head is attached to the wire by a snap ring. As the body moves back and forth through the water, it moves more like a live bait fish and I’ve gotten some awesome strikes on this bait. I also found that the free
swinging body makes it extremely hard for fish to throw the bait, which is always a concern when fishing top-water bait. I also found the half ounce version casts very well even into the wind. Swim Raptor Jig I have to say that from this day forward I will have a Swim Raptor Jig tied on a rod in my boat on the front deck. The patent pending Swim Raptor Jig is by far the best swim jig I’ve ever put in the water. It’s a true game changer on tournament day for me now. It’s a cross between a Texas rig, a wobble head and a jig.
This swim jig’s innovative free hanging hook design allows the trailer to swim much more lifelike. I matched it with a Gene Larew Biffle Bug. I’ve caught countless fish on this bait since I tried it a few months ago. It comes with a TroKar TK 120 4/0 hook and an interchangeable clevis if you need to change hook sizes. These features make this lure the ultimate swim jig on the market to date. If you’re a swim jig fisherman, you have got to give this Swim Raptor Jig a try. MESU Baits has set a new standard in the fishing industry with their buzz bait and swim jig. If you would like to try these baits, please visit their site at www.mesubait.com.
